IRS offers tax relief to the taxpayers who were affected by Hurricane Harvey. The people who have been affected by this storm have been given an extension period until January 31, 2018 to file business tax returns and make tax payments. The period of tax relief originally granted to them October 16 and the business extensions September 15.

The Same tax relief has been granted to the people affected by Hurricane Irma. This is one of the most upsetting events in United States, receiving 100 cm of rain as it slowly changes its course over eastern Texas and in the connected water bodies.

Places that will fall under this tax relief are Bee, Brazoria, Harris, Jackson, Nueces, San Patricio, Victoria, Calhoun, and Wharton. Additionally other places will also share this benefit depending upon the damaged assessed by Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Tax-Relief

The deadlines have been extended to January 31 for those who have to pay in by August 23, 2017. If the affected taxpayers get a penalty notice filed by the IRS for late filing or late payment, then the taxpayer should call the number to have the IRS abate the penalty.

The payment deadlines made on September 4, 2017 in Florida and on September 5, 2017 in Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands will be extended to January 31, 2018.

Renunciation of tax deposit due to the disaster within the first fifteen days of the calamity period is entailed. The taxpayer within the disaster area does not need to worry about paying tax and they won’t be penalized because the IRS has automated the penalty relief to the taxpayers.

If any taxpayer is related to the recognized government or is willing to do charitable tasks outside the affected area, please contact the IRS number – 1-866-562-5227.
